Has your skin started looking dull, rough, or lifeless? Or are you among those who spend money on expensive scrubs and skincare products to achieve soft, glowing skin?

If so, today’s article is going to be very useful for you.

Today, I am going to share a very simple DIY exfoliating scrub that helps remove dead skin cells, smooth out skin texture, and enhance your skin’s natural glow. The best part is that you don’t need any expensive or hard-to-find ingredients to make it.

In this article, I will guide you step-by-step through everything from preparing the scrub base to using it correctly so you can easily make it at home. So, let’s get started with the video without further delay.

How to Make the Scrub Base

To prepare the scrub base, take skinless yellow moong dal (split yellow lentils). If you cannot find yellow moong dal for any reason, you can use red masoor dal (split red lentils) instead; both work well for this scrub.

Next, grind the chosen lentils thoroughly in a grinder or blender to create a fine powder. The finer the powder, the gentler and softer the scrub will feel on your skin. If any large or coarse granules remain, sift the powder; this ensures a smooth texture and prevents the scrub from feeling too harsh on the skin during use.

Once the powder is ready, store it in an airtight container. This way, your scrub base is ready for use, saving you the effort of making it from scratch every time.

Preparing the Scrub for Use

Whenever you wish to use this scrub, take about half a teaspoon of the scrub base in a small bowl and mix in a little water to form a smooth paste. Be careful to add just enough water to keep the paste relatively thick neither too runny nor too stiff so that it can be easily applied to the skin.

Once the paste is ready, do not use it immediately. Let it sit at room temperature for at least 15 minutes. This allows the powder to fully absorb the water and softens its texture. As a result, the scrub feels smoother and more comfortable when applied to the skin.

How to Use the Scrub Correctly

Before applying this scrub, clean your face thoroughly. If there is oil, dust or dirt accumulated on your skin, the scrub will not work properly. Therefore, first of all wash your face with plain water or your regular face wash. Apply the scrub only when your face is completely clean, so that it can come in direct contact with the skin and show the best effect.

After this, take the prepared paste and apply it evenly on the entire face. Then, gently massage the skin in circular motion. Do not use too much force while scrubbing, as this may irritate the skin; However, the massage should not be so gentle that you do not get the benefits of exfoliation. Simply massage your face gently, paying special attention to areas where the skin is feeling rough, dry or dull.

After exfoliation is complete, wash the face thoroughly with room temperature water and pat the skin dry. You will feel that your skin looks clearer, softer and fresher than before.

Post-Exfoliation Skincare Routine

After exfoliation, your skin feels clean and refreshed, making it the perfect time to apply other skincare products. You can apply your favorite face mask; this provides extra care and leaves your skin feeling even more revitalized. After removing the face mask, you can use a toner to keep your skin refreshed and balanced.

If you are following this routine during the day, do not forget to apply sunscreen at the end. Exfoliation makes the skin slightly more sensitive to the sun, so using sunscreen is essential.

However, if you are following this routine at night, apply a good moisturizer after the toner. This keeps the skin hydrated and leaves it feeling soft, smooth, and healthy.
