  • Dark Lips Treatment

Are your lips gradually turning dark? And do you think that simply applying lip balm or rubbing beetroot on them will make them pink again? If so, you might be mistaken.

The truth is, there isn’t just one reason for lips turning dark; there can be several underlying causes. Unless you understand the root cause, no remedy or home treatment will yield the results you desire.

So, in today’s article, I will explain why lips darken and discuss who can benefit from home remedies and who might not. I will also share a simple two-step treatment; regular use will keep your lips healthy and soft while gradually improving their natural color.

    Why Do Lips Turn Dark?

First, let’s understand why lips darken.

There can be several reasons for this, such as a poor diet, prolonged sun exposure, repeatedly peeling off dry skin from the lips, dehydration, excessive consumption of tea or coffee, or smoking. All these factors can gradually affect the natural color of your lips.

And I want to make one thing clear: this treatment is intended only for those whose lips have darkened due to sun exposure, smoking, dehydration, or external factors. If your lips are dark due to natural or genetic reasons, you might not see significant results from this treatment.

    The 2 Step Treatment

For this, I will share a simple two-step treatment with you. However, before starting the treatment, keep one small thing in mind: since it involves natural ingredients, be sure to perform a patch test if you are using them for the first time. If any ingredient causes irritation or an allergic reaction, do not use it.

How Often Should You Use It?

Now, let’s discuss how to carry out this treatment. You need to use it on alternate days; for instance, if you start the treatment today, skip it tomorrow and resume the day after. Consistency is crucial for this treatment; you will achieve better results only if you follow the routine regularly.

    Step 1: Exfoliating Lip Scrub

Let’s start with the first step.

The first step is exfoliation; just as dead skin cells accumulate on our face, they also build up on our lips. If this dead skin isn’t removed, the lips can appear rough and dark. Therefore, removing dead skin is essential to keep the lips soft and restore their natural color.

Although there are many lip scrubs available in the market, many of them tend to dry out the lips during exfoliation. That is why I am going to share a DIY lip scrub with you that removes dead skin while also helping to retain moisture.

    What You’ll Need

We need just three ingredients to make this DIY lip scrub. The first is honey; it helps retain moisture, keeping the lips hydrated and soft.

The second ingredient is glycerin. It protects the lips from dryness and irritation, keeps them soft, and helps enhance their natural color.

The third ingredient is sugar. It acts as a natural exfoliator, helping to remove dead skin cells and improve blood circulation while massaging the lips.

    Preparation

To make this, simply combine a teaspoon of honey, a teaspoon of sugar, and half a teaspoon of glycerin in a small bowl and mix well; that’s it your DIY lip scrub is ready.

    Application

To apply it, first take a small amount of scrub on your fingers and gently massage your lips in circular motion for 1 to 2 minutes. Keep in mind that the skin of the lips is very delicate; Therefore, do not apply too much pressure or rub vigorously as it may cause damage.

After massaging, leave the scrub on the lips for 1 to 2 minutes and then wipe off with a soft tissue or cotton pad. If some scrub is left over, you can store it in a clean, airtight container in the refrigerator.

    Step 2: Overnight Lip Mask

Now that the dead skin has been removed from your lips, the next step is to provide them with deep nourishment and hydration. This is where a sleeping lip mask comes in; it deeply hydrates and nourishes the lips overnight, ensuring the benefits of exfoliation are prolonged.

    What You’ll Need

To make this sleeping lip mask, we need three simple ingredients. The first is beetroot juice; it enhances the lips’ natural color and gives them a healthy, fresh look.

The second ingredient is aloe vera gel. It deeply hydrates the lips without feeling sticky, keeping them soft and naturally plump.

The third ingredient is desi ghee (clarified butter). It deeply nourishes the lips and locks in moisture, keeping them hydrated and soft throughout the night.

    Preparation

Making this sleeping lip mask is very easy. Take a bowl and add one teaspoon each of beetroot juice, aloe vera gel, and desi ghee. Mix these three ingredients thoroughly. Your sleeping lip mask is now ready.

    Application

It is very easy to apply: simply take a small amount of the sleeping lip mask on your fingertips and apply it to your lips. Gently massage until the mask is fully absorbed.

There is no need to wipe or wash it off afterwards. Leave the mask on your lips overnight to allow the ingredients to work their magic, leaving your lips feeling soft, hydrated, and nourished by morning.

    Results

Now, let’s talk about the results; first, understand that this change doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time for the lips’ natural color to improve, so don’t expect a drastic transformation on the very first day. However, if you consistently follow this two-step treatment, your lips will feel much softer and more hydrated. Gradually, thanks to the reduction of dead skin, improved hydration, and proper care, the darkness of your lips will also begin to fade.

So friends, if you too are troubled by the problem of dark lips, do try this simple two-step treatment and make it a part of your regular routine. If you use it, please share your experience and results with me in the comments.

  • Blackheads & Whiteheads

Have you noticed small black spots on your nose or chin that keep coming back within a few days, no matter how much you squeeze them or use pore strips?

If so, today’s article is essential for you. We will discuss blackheads and whiteheads, try to understand why they form and how they differ, explore safe treatment methods, and find out what actually works versus what is merely a myth. So, make sure to watch the video until the end.

    What Are Blackheads & Whiteheads?

To understand blackheads and whiteheads, we first need to know a little about our skin.

Our skin has many tiny hairs known as ‘vellus hair.’ Each hair is connected to an oil gland that produces sebum,a type of natural oil. This oil helps keep the skin soft and moisturized. The tiny opening through which this oil reaches the skin’s surface is called a ‘pore.’

The problem arises when dead skin cells, excess oil, and keratin accumulate inside the pore and gradually clog it; these clogged pores lead to the formation of blackheads or whiteheads.

So, what is the difference between the two?

If a clogged pore remains covered by a thin layer of skin, it is called a whitehead. However, if the pore remains open at the surface, the keratin inside comes into contact with air, oxidizes, and turns black. That is why it is called a blackhead.

Who Gets Blackheads & Whiteheads More Often?

Now, let’s discuss who is more likely to experience this problem.

If you have oily or combination skin, you are at a higher risk of developing this issue. This is because these skin types produce more oil.

Although they can appear anywhere on the face, they mostly occur in the T-zone specifically on the forehead, nose, and chin as this area has the highest concentration of oil glands.

Hormonal changes can also be a major factor. This is why blackheads and whiteheads are quite common among teenagers and young adults, as the body naturally produces more oil during this stage of life.

    Common Causes

Now, let’s discuss the habits that can aggravate the problem of blackheads and whiteheads.

The first habit is the use of heavy makeup; if you use products like foundation, concealer, or compact powder and do not cleanse them off thoroughly at the end of the day, they can clog your pores. This prevents oil from escaping, potentially leading to the formation of blackheads or whiteheads.

The second factor is applying oil to your hair; this oil can mix with sweat, run down onto your forehead or the sides of your face, and clog your pores especially if this happens regularly.

The third factor is excessive sweating. If you do not cleanse your face after exercising or engaging in any physical activity, sweat, oil, and dead skin cells can accumulate in your pores, leading to blackheads and whiteheads.

How to Remove Blackheads at Home Safely?

The good news is that once you understand why they occur, controlling them becomes quite easy; let’s look at how you can manage them at home.

If you want to remove blackheads at home, start by washing your face thoroughly and then steaming it for 5 to 10 minutes. Steaming softens the skin, making it easier to extract the blackheads.

Next, you can use a ‘comedone extractor’ which is easily available online and apply very gentle pressure. Only extract the blackhead if it comes out easily.

If the blackhead does not come out easily, do not try to force it out. Applying too much pressure can push the blockage deeper, potentially leading to pimples, blemishes, or permanent scarring.

After removing blackheads, apply a toner followed by a gel-based moisturizer to soothe the skin.

However, do not attempt to remove whiteheads at home. Since whiteheads lie beneath the skin’s surface, safe removal often requires techniques like extraction with a needle or radiofrequency treatment, which should only be performed by a dermatologist. Trying to pop them at home can lead to a risk of infection or scarring.

If you have a severe problem with blackheads or whiteheads, or if they keep recurring, it is best to consult a dermatologist. They can recommend oral medications and other treatments to help control oil production and the buildup of dead skin cells.

    Treatment

If these methods do not resolve the issue, you can proceed to the next stage of treatment.

The first step is to use a face wash containing salicylic acid. Since the primary cause of this problem is often the accumulation of dead skin cells and oil in the pores, salicylic acid is considered one of the most effective ingredients. It penetrates deep into the pores to gently remove dead skin and helps keep them clear.

If you have oily skin, you can use it twice a day. Those with combination skin should use it once a day, while using it two to three times a week is sufficient for dry or sensitive skin.

Using it correctly is also important. First, wet your face, then apply the face wash to create a light lather and leave it on your skin for about 30 seconds to a minute. Finally, rinse your face with lukewarm water.

You can use any face wash containing 2% salicylic acid.

Don’t forget to apply a gel-based moisturizer after washing your face. Many people mistakenly believe that they don’t need moisturizer if they have blackheads, but this is incorrect. Moisturizers keep the skin hydrated, and gel-based ones generally do not clog pores.

If using a face wash alone doesn’t show improvement, the next step is to use Adapalene Gel. It prevents dead skin cells from accumulating inside the pores and stops new blackheads and whiteheads from forming.

If you have oily skin, you can apply it every night. For combination skin, use it on alternate days, and for dry or sensitive skin, you can start by using it once or twice a week.

If you have severe blackheads that aren’t responding to standard treatments, you can use Tretinoin 0.025% cream under the guidance of a dermatologist. It slows down oil production and prevents dead skin cells from accumulating in your pores. If you have oily skin, start with a very small amount about the size of a pea. For the first few days, apply it for just one hour before washing it off. If your skin tolerates it well, you can gradually increase the duration of application.

However, never start using retinoids without consulting a dermatologist, as they can make your skin dry and sensitive. Additionally, whenever you use retinoids, make sure to apply sunscreen during the day and reapply it every two hours, as your skin becomes more sensitive to sunlight during this time.

    Important Reality Check

So, simply removing blackheads once doesn’t mean they are gone forever, as your oil glands will continue to produce oil. If your pores become clogged again, the blackheads can return.

Therefore, the definitive solution isn’t just a one-time removal but maintaining a consistent skincare routine. When you regularly use products like salicylic acid face wash, adapalene, or those recommended by a dermatologist, pore clogging gradually decreases, oil production comes under control, and the issue of blackheads is significantly reduced. Additionally, your pores begin to appear smaller than before.

  • What Doesn’t Work for Open Pores?

If you have open pores, you have likely come across various remedies for them on the internet or social media. However, the problem is that much of this advice is either incomplete or simply a myth. Consequently, people often follow these methods for months; while they might show temporary benefits, the improvement does not last.

So, in today’s article, I will discuss three very popular remedies for open pores. We will examine how effective they actually are, what benefits they offer, and most importantly what they should be used for and what you absolutely should not expect from them.

    Toners

Let’s start with toners. You have likely seen many toners marketed as “pore-tightening” or “pore-minimizing,” but the reality is quite different.

Astringent toners, in particular, create a temporary sensation of tightness on the skin’s surface, making pores appear smaller for a short while. However, this effect is fleeting; as soon as the skin returns to its normal state, the pores look just as they did before.

Using alcohol-based toners can actually make matters worse. Alcohol dries out and dehydrates the skin, prompting it to produce excess oil to compensate. Over time, this can make enlarged pores appear even more noticeable.

This doesn’t mean toners are useless. They are quite helpful for prepping the skin before makeup, refreshing the face, or maintaining the skin’s balance after cleansing. Just don’t expect them to permanently shrink open pores.

    Ice Therapy

Another method is ice therapy. Many people rub ice on their face or submerge it in ice-cold water, thinking this will permanently shrink open pores. But in reality this does not happen.

In fact, when the skin is exposed to cold, the blood vessels constrict briefly; This makes the skin feel tight and the pores appear smaller for some time. But as soon as the skin temperature becomes normal, its effect ends and the pores start appearing as before.

However, this does not mean that ice has no benefits. If your face feels puffy after waking up, or you just want your skin to feel instantly refreshed, ice is great, just don’t expect it to permanently reduce the size of open pores.

    Clay Mask

Now, let’s talk about clay masks, such as Fuller’s earth (Multani mitti) or kaolin clay. They absorb excess oil from the skin’s surface and help clear out oil, dirt, and impurities lodged in the pores; this leaves the skin looking clean and fresh, making the pores appear smaller for a while.

However, there is an important point to understand here: clay masks do not actually shrink the size of your pores. As soon as the skin starts producing oil again, the pores return to their original state.

So, all in all, view clay masks as a maintenance step rather than a permanent cure for open pores. If you have oily skin or want to keep your pores clean, you should include a clay mask in your skincare routine just don’t expect it to shrink your pores permanently.

  • Professional Treatments for Enlarged Pores

If you are following a skincare routine for open pores, keep in mind that effective products may take some time to show results.

However, if you have a wedding or an important event coming up in a few months or simply want faster results you can consult a dermatologist about professional in-clinic treatments for open pores.

In today’s article, we will discuss the available in-clinic treatments for open pores, understand how they work, see who they are suitable for, and look at the kind of results you can expect from them.

    Fractional CO2 Laser

When it comes to professional treatments, ‘Fractional CO2 laser’ is a significant option. This treatment involves creating tiny, controlled injuries (micro-injuries) within the skin. As the skin heals these injuries, new collagen begins to form. Increased collagen provides better structural support to the skin surrounding the pores, causing open pores to gradually appear smaller.

However, caution is necessary when using this laser on Indian skin (which typically has a darker or brown complexion). If the treatment settings are incorrect or the procedure is not performed by an experienced dermatologist, the risk of pigmentation issues increases. Therefore, this treatment should always be undergone under the supervision of a qualified dermatologist.

    Erbium Glass Laser

If the fractional CO2 laser isn’t right for you, there is another option: the Erbium Glass laser. It is considered particularly safe for darker skin tones because it carries a lower risk of pigmentation issues and post-treatment sun sensitivity.

A single session or two is not enough to achieve the full benefits of this treatment. Typically, an interval of 45 days to two months is maintained between sessions. As the sessions progress and the skin produces new collagen, a gradual improvement in open pores becomes visible.

    Microneedling & RF Microneedling

Another very popular treatment is microneedling or RF microneedling. The primary goal of both is to boost collagen production in the skin. In this treatment, ultra-fine needles are used to create tiny punctures or micro-channels in the skin; this triggers the body’s repair process and aids in the formation of new collagen.

RF microneedling also incorporates radiofrequency energy, which further enhances collagen production. Typically, significant improvement in open pores is observed after 3 to 5 sessions. Moreover, with the right skincare routine, the results can be long-lasting.

PRP, Exosomes, PDRN & Skin Boosters

Alongside these treatments, many dermatologists also recommend additional procedures such as PRP, exosomes, or PDRN. These aim to aid skin recovery and boost collagen production. In many cases, they are combined with laser therapy or microneedling to achieve better results.

Additionally, some individuals are advised to use skin boosters. These contain small molecules of hyaluronic acid that are injected into the skin, making it appear more hydrated, plump, and firm. As the overall quality of the skin improves, open pores also become less visible than before.

  • 10 Skincare Tips

You may have noticed that some people use a wide range of skincare products yet see no significant change in their skin, whereas others follow a simple routine and their skin looks naturally healthy and glowing. Why does this happen?

In today’s article, I will share 10 simple skincare tips that everyone should know. If you follow them regularly, your skin’s overall health can improve significantly.

    Know Your Skin Type

First of all, people often buy products based on social media trends or influencer recommendations; however, if a product isn’t formulated for your specific skin type, it can cause harm rather than good.

Therefore, the first step is to determine whether your skin is oily, dry, combination, normal, or sensitive. You can perform a simple test to figure this out: after washing your face, don’t apply anything and wait for about half an hour at room temperature. Then, observe your skin. If your entire face looks oily, you have oily skin. If there is shine only on your forehead and nose, you have combination skin. If your skin feels stretched or tight, it is dry skin. If you don’t notice any particular sensation, your skin is normal. Additionally, if you frequently experience redness, itching, or quick reactions to products, your skin might be sensitive.

Knowing your skin type makes it much easier to choose the right products and helps you avoid many common skincare mistakes right from the start.

Protect Your Skin from the Sun

Secondly, protect your skin from the sun as much as possible. People often focus solely on applying sunscreen, but sun protection involves more than just that.

Unless absolutely necessary, avoid staying out in strong sunlight for extended periods, as UV rays gradually damage the skin. Exposure to them can lead to issues such as tanning, pigmentation, dark spots, and premature aging.

If you do need to go outside, make sure to apply sunscreen. Additionally, you can use an umbrella, wear full-sleeved clothing, and keep your skin covered as much as possible. Together, these simple measures offer significant protection for your skin against the sun.

    Try Double Cleansing

Thirdly, a layer of sunscreen, makeup, pollution, excess oil, and dust accumulates on our skin throughout the day, making it essential to wash the face thoroughly. Often, a single wash isn’t enough to remove all of this completely; this is where ‘double cleansing’ proves very useful.

First, use an oil-based cleanser to remove traces of sunscreen, makeup, and oil. Follow this with a water-based face wash to remove any remaining dirt, sweat, and other impurities. Together, these two steps help deep-clean the skin and keep the pores clear.

Don’t Touch Your Face or Pop Pimples

Fourthly, break the habit of touching your face repeatedly. Many people touch their faces throughout the day without even realizing it. In reality, bacteria, oil, and dirt accumulate on our hands; when we frequently touch our faces, these substances can transfer to the skin, potentially clogging pores and increasing the risk of acne.

Additionally, if you do get a pimple, do not pop it. I know the urge to pop a pimple can be strong, but doing so can lead to dark spots and acne scars that may take months to heal or, in some cases, remain permanently.

    Moisturize Your Body Too

Fifth,  Many people diligently follow a skincare routine but focus solely on their face, completely neglecting the skin on the rest of their body. If the skin on your body is dry, rough, or sensitive, it also requires regular moisturization.

Therefore, make sure to include a mild, fragrance-free body lotion in your routine. The best time to apply body lotion is immediately after a shower, while your skin is still slightly damp. At this time, the moisturizer is absorbed more effectively and helps retain moisture.

    Hydrate From Within

Sixth, Keep your skin hydrated not just from the outside, but from the inside as well. People often think that glowing skin is achieved solely through the use of skincare products, but that is not the case. The more hydrated your body is, the more it will reflect on your skin. Therefore, drink plenty of water throughout the day according to your needs; additionally, you can incorporate lemon water, coconut water, or fruit juices into your routine.

    Eat for Healthy Skin

Seventh, What you eat daily gradually shows its effect on your skin. Therefore, if you want healthy skin, do not focus solely on skincare products pay attention to your diet as well. Include fruits and vegetables in your meals, and stay away from deep-fried foods, packaged foods, and sugar.

    Always Do a Patch Test

Eighth,  Always perform a patch test before using any new skincare product. People often get excited and apply a new product directly to their face. However, if the product doesn’t suit your skin, it can cause issues like redness, itching, burning, or an allergic reaction.

To avoid this, make sure to conduct a patch test before using the product. Simply apply a small amount to a small area of your skin; if there is no redness, itching, swelling, or burning, you can safely use it on your face. It takes just two minutes, but this simple habit can save you from major skin problems.

    Improve Your Lifestyle

Ninth, pay attention to your lifestyle. Excessive stress can lead to issues like acne, dull skin, and uneven skin tone. Therefore, make sure to set aside 5 to 10 minutes daily for breathing exercises or meditation. Also, incorporate some form of physical activity into your routine whether it is walking, a workout, or any other exercise; staying active not only benefits your health but also improves your skin.

And most importantly, do not compromise on your sleep. Going to bed at the same time every day and getting adequate sleep gives your skin a chance to heal and recover.

    Stay Consistent

And the tenth , people often follow a new skincare routine for just a week or two and then claim they haven’t seen any benefits. However, skincare doesn’t work miracles overnight.

Achieving healthy skin takes time. So, create a simple yet effective routine, stick to it consistently, and avoid the habit of trying out new products every other day. If you remain patient and regular with your routine, you will gradually start seeing results.

  • Setting Powder

You may have noticed that some people’s makeup stays fresh from morning till evening, while others’ becomes oily, patchy, or starts creasing within just a few hours. Interestingly, this happens even when both individuals use the exact same foundation and concealer.

    So, what makes the difference?

It often comes down not to the foundation or concealer itself, but to a product that many people either skip or use incorrectly, setting powder.

When used correctly, it plays a crucial role in keeping your makeup smooth, crease-free, and transfer-resistant, ensuring it lasts all day long.

In today’s article, I’ll cover everything you need to know about setting powder from A to Z. I’ll explain what setting powder is, why it’s considered so essential, the differences between loose and compact powders, how to choose between tinted and translucent options, and how to pick the right shade for your skin tone. Plus, at the end of the video, I’ll provide a practical demonstration on how to apply it so your makeup looks professional and stays put all day.

    Why is Setting Powder Important?

First, let’s understand why setting powder is needed.

Imagine you have completed your entire makeup routine applying moisturizer, foundation, concealer, cream blush, and even contour. Most of these products come in cream or liquid form. Consequently, if you touch your face immediately after application, the makeup can easily transfer onto your fingers or smudge and shift out of place.

Setting powder is used to solve this problem. It creates a very light layer over the makeup, locking the cream and liquid products in place. This helps the makeup last longer, prevents smudging, and keeps the entire look fresh and neat for an extended period.

    Loose Powder vs Compact Powder

Now, let’s talk about the types of setting powders. Generally, there are two kinds: loose powder and compact powder.

First, let’s discuss loose powder. It is very fine and lightweight, allowing it to spread evenly across the face and give the makeup a natural finish. In terms of coverage, it is quite light ranging from sheer to medium. Its standout feature is how effectively it smooths out the under-eye area, smile lines, and other fine lines. That is why makeup artists often prefer loose powder to set makeup.

Next is compact powder. It comes in a pressed form, making it slightly denser than loose powder. It typically provides a matte or semi-matte finish and works very well at absorbing excess oil from the face. Its biggest advantage is convenience; you can easily carry it in your bag or pocket and quickly touch up your makeup whenever needed whether you are at college, the office, or anywhere else. Compact powder is especially beneficial for those with oily skin.

So, just remember this simple rule: use loose powder to set your makeup properly, and opt for compact powder when you need to refresh or touch up your makeup during the day.

    Tinted vs Non-Tinted Powder

Let’s explore this a bit further. Whether you choose loose powder or compact powder, you will find two options for both: tinted and non-tinted. So, which one should you pick?

Let’s start with non-tinted powder. As the name suggests, it doesn’t have a specific color. Its purpose is simply to set your makeup, not to alter your skin tone. Translucent powder is the most common example of this.

On the other hand, tinted powder has a subtle hint of color. It comes in various shades to suit different skin tones such as yellow, pink, or peach. It not only sets your makeup but also helps even out and balance your skin tone.

Always remember that choosing the right shade of tinted powder is crucial. If the shade is incorrect, your makeup might end up looking dull, patchy, or ashy instead of natural.

How to Choose the Right Powder for Your Skin Tone?

Now, the question arises: with so many options available, which powder should you choose for your skin tone?

If you have a fair to medium skin tone, a translucent powder is a great choice. It sets your makeup effectively and blends naturally into the skin without adding any extra color.

However, if you have a medium-deep or deep skin tone, some translucent powders can give your face a slightly grey or ashy look. In this case, banana powder is a better option. It features warm yellow undertones that blend naturally with deep skin tones, ensuring the makeup doesn’t look chalky or white.

If you have fair skin and want to add a bit of extra brightness to your makeup, you can try a pink or peach-toned powder. But if your goal is simply to set your makeup without needing an extra brightening effect, a translucent powder works perfectly.

And here is an important point that people often overlook: if you are applying makeup for photos or videos, be sure to check reviews regarding “flashback” before buying a setting powder. Some powders contain high levels of silica, which can cause a white cast to appear on the face when camera flash hits it. To avoid this issue, HD or blur-finish powders generally work better.

How to Apply Loose Powder Correctly?

Now, let’s look at the right way to apply loose powder.

First, identify the areas of your face prone to creasing such as under the eyes, smile lines, and the forehead. Before applying powder, gently dab these areas with a damp beauty blender. This ensures that any concealer or foundation settled in the fine lines is blended out smoothly.

Next, pick up a small amount of loose powder on a powder puff and tap off the excess. Instead of rubbing the powder onto your face, apply it by pressing or dabbing. This method sets the powder effectively without disturbing the makeup underneath.

In areas prone to heavy creasing, you can apply a slightly thicker layer of powder and let it sit for 3 to 5 minutes; this technique is known as “baking.” It helps set the makeup more securely and minimizes the chances of creasing.

Finally, use a fluffy brush to gently sweep away any excess powder. Be careful not to rub the brush harshly against your face, as doing so could displace the foundation and concealer underneath.

How to Touch Up Makeup with Compact Powder?

If it has been 4–5 hours since you applied your makeup and your face has become slightly oily or the makeup no longer looks fresh it is better to use compact powder instead of loose powder for a touch-up.

There is no need to apply powder to your entire face; simply focus on areas where the makeup has become shiny or started to fade, usually the T-zone and under the eyes.

Pick up a small amount of compact powder with the puff, tap off the excess, and apply it by gently pressing or patting rather than rubbing. This refreshes the makeup without disturbing the base layer underneath.

Also, avoid applying multiple layers of powder; doing so can make the makeup look cakey instead of fresh. Therefore, always use a light touch and apply only as much powder as is necessary at the moment.

  • How to choose the perfect foundation for your skin

You might find this surprising, but people often waste money when buying foundation because they pick the wrong shade and it’s not necessarily because the product itself is bad.

Sometimes, the foundation looks too light or too dark on the face. At times, it makes the skin look grayish after application, or a shade that seemed perfect in the store looks completely different once you get home. And the most interesting part is that the problem often isn’t with the shade itself.

Yes, considering just your skin tone isn’t enough when choosing a foundation. There are several other factors that determine whether the foundation will blend naturally with your skin or look unnatural. Once you understand these factors, picking the right foundation becomes much easier.

In today’s article , I’ll share four simple tips that every beginner should know when choosing a foundation. By the end of the article, you’ll know exactly how to select the right foundation for your skin, so you won’t have to rely on guesswork the next time you go shopping.

    Find Your True Skin Tone

The first and most crucial step in choosing a foundation is understanding your skin tone. Skin tone refers to the visible color of your skin such as fair, medium, or deep. While this may sound simple, most mistakes happen at this very stage.

Many people assume that if they have fair skin, any “fair” shade will suit them, but that is not the case. There are various shades even within the fair skin category; some people have very light skin, while others have a slightly deeper tone. Similarly, there is a wide range of shades within the medium and deep skin tone categories as well.

That is why, when people choose a foundation that is two or three shades lighter than their actual skin tone, the makeup ends up looking grey, ashy, or artificial rather than natural. It often looks odd in the mirror, and this flaw becomes even more apparent on camera.

So, keep a simple rule in mind when choosing a foundation: the shade should match your actual skin tone as closely as possible neither too light nor too dark. When the shade is a perfect match, the foundation blends naturally with your skin, creating a smooth, uniform look as if no separate layer has been applied at all.

So far, we have discussed skin tone, but there is another factor that is even more important when choosing a foundation: undertone.

Many people confuse skin tone with undertone, but they are actually distinct concepts. Skin tone refers to the color visible on the skin’s surface, whereas undertone is the subtle hue lying beneath the surface. Whether a foundation blends naturally with your skin or looks like a separate layer of makeup depends largely on your undertone.

Generally, there are three types of undertones: cool, warm, and neutral.

If you want to determine your undertone at home, observe the veins in your wrist under natural light. If your veins appear mostly blue or purple, you have a ‘cool’ undertone. If they look green or olive, you have a ‘warm’ undertone. If you see a mix of both colors or cannot clearly distinguish between them, you fall into the ‘neutral’ undertone category.

Now, the question arises: why is the undertone so important?

Often, a foundation shade looks perfect at first glance, but after application, the face appears lifeless, dull, or slightly ashy. People frequently assume they have chosen the wrong shade, but the real issue lies not in the shade itself, but in the undertone. Even if the shade is correct, the foundation will not blend naturally with the skin if the undertone does not match.

Let us also clear up a common misconception here. Having fair skin does not necessarily mean your undertone is ‘cool’; fair-skinned individuals can also have ‘warm’ undertones. Similarly, people with deep or dark skin tones can have ‘cool’ undertones. Skin tone and undertone are two distinct things.

Choose Foundation According to Your Skin Type

We have already discussed skin tone and undertone; now, let’s talk about skin type. Simply choosing a foundation that matches your skin color isn’t enough; the formula should also suit your skin type.

If you have oily skin, your skin naturally produces excess oil. Consequently, heavy or overly dewy foundations can quickly feel sticky, potentially causing your makeup to wear off prematurely. That is why matte-finish or water-based foundations tend to be more comfortable and longer-lasting on oily skin.

If you have dry skin, the situation is quite the opposite. Matte foundations often accentuate dry patches, making the makeup look uneven or flaky. Hydrating or luminous-finish foundations are generally better choices for dry skin, as they help give the skin a smooth and healthy appearance.

Combination skin comes with its own unique set of challenges. The T-zone comprising the forehead, nose, and chin can be oily, while the rest of the face remains normal or dry. Moreover, your skin type doesn’t stay the same throughout the year; it may feel oilier in the summer and somewhat drier in the winter. Consequently, a single foundation might not perform consistently across all seasons. In such cases, it is best to choose a foundation that offers a balanced finish.

If you have sensitive skin, focusing solely on the shade and finish when selecting a foundation isn’t enough; you should also consider the ingredients and the product’s reliability. Prioritize products that have been dermatologist-tested and specifically formulated for sensitive skin. After all, no matter how perfect the shade is, a foundation is of no use if it causes skin irritation.

    Pick the Right Coverage Level

    Pick the Right Coverage Level

Let’s look at one final factor that largely determines the foundation’s final look: coverage.

Coverage refers to how much the foundation conceals or covers your skin. When buying foundation, many people focus solely on the shade and brand, completely overlooking coverage. Consequently, they either find the foundation too heavy or fail to get the level of coverage they expected. That is why you should always choose a coverage level that suits your specific needs.

If you prefer a natural, skin-like finish, a light-coverage foundation is a great choice. It subtly evens out your skin tone without completely masking your skin. This makes it feel comfortable and look natural perfect for college, the office, or everyday use.

Next is medium coverage. This is the best option for those who want a natural look combined with a bit more coverage. It effectively conceals mild redness, minor blemishes, and uneven skin tone. The best part is that it is buildable; you can increase the coverage or apply just a single layer for a natural finish. That is why medium coverage foundation is the most practical and versatile choice for most people.

Then comes full coverage foundation. It effectively hides acne scars, pigmentation, dark spots, and noticeable skin discoloration. People often prefer full coverage foundation for weddings, parties, functions, or special occasions where they want their makeup to look flawless and perfect.

Simply put, light or medium coverage is sufficient for daily use, whereas full coverage foundation is an excellent choice when you need more coverage for a special occasion.

How to Find Your Perfect Foundation Shade

So far, we have discussed skin tone, undertone, skin type, and coverage. However, even after understanding all of this, if you skip the step of testing the shade, there is still a risk of making a mistake.

That is why you should never skip this step when buying foundation especially when trying out a foundation or a new brand for the first time.

Often, a shade might look perfect in online photos or on a shade chart, but colors actually appear slightly different on a screen. Furthermore, every brand has its own shade system; a shade from one brand that suits you perfectly might be completely different in another brand, even if the name or number is the same.

That is why the safest way to buy foundation is to visit a store and test the shades. Select two or three shades that closely match your skin tone, apply them to your jawline, and blend them slightly. Testing on the jawline is beneficial because it is the area connecting the face and neck, making it easier to determine whether the shade is a match.

Next, examine the shades carefully in natural light; the shade that blends so seamlessly into your skin that there is no visible patch or distinct line between your face and neck is the right one for you.

I know this process takes a bit of time, but the good news is that you won’t have to go through this effort repeatedly. Once you find your perfect shade in a particular brand, ordering that same shade online in the future becomes very easy.

  • Strobe Cream

Sometimes, two people use the exact same strobe cream, yet one person’s makeup looks naturally glowing while the other’s face appears oily or artificial. Why does this happen? Is the issue with the product itself, or the way it is applied? And is strobe cream truly suitable for every skin type?

In today’s article, I will explain everything you need to know about strobe cream in a simple way, so that the next time you use it, you know exactly when, how, and in what quantity to apply it.

    What is a Strobe Cream?

First, let’s understand what strobe cream actually is.

To grasp this, you first need to understand the meaning of “strobing.” Strobing is a makeup technique designed to accentuate the areas of the face where light naturally hits such as the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, the forehead, and other high points of the face. When these areas reflect light, the skin appears fresh, healthy, and naturally radiant; this effect is known as strobing.

Various products are used to achieve this glow, such as liquid highlighters, highlighting powders, or strobe creams. However, strobe cream differs slightly from other products. It not only adds radiance to the skin but also hydrates it. As a result, the skin looks healthy, fresh, and luminous, rather than just shiny.

Choosing the Right Strobe Cream Shade

Now, let’s understand how to choose the right shade of strobe cream; because if the shade is wrong, the cream can make your makeup look artificial instead of giving it a natural glow.

If you have fair or light skin, a pink-toned strobe cream is a great option. It blends easily into the skin and provides a soft, natural glow that doesn’t look overly dramatic.

However, if your skin tone falls within the light-to-medium range, you have a few more options. You can experiment with both pink and gold shades. Both look great on the skin; it simply depends on your undertone and personal preference.

However, if you have a medium to dark complexion, you need to be particularly careful when choosing a shade. Many people mistakenly select strobe creams that are too light or cool-toned. Such shades do not blend naturally with dark skin and can sometimes make the face look grey or ashy. That is why warm-toned shades work better for medium to dark skin tones; shades like gold, bronze, or copper complement the skin’s undertones and provide a natural, healthy-looking glow.

5 Ways to Use Strobe Cream

Now, let’s talk about the different ways to use strobe cream. Many people think strobe cream has only one use, but in reality, you can use it in various ways depending on the kind of glow and look you desire.

The first method is to apply strobe cream after your primer. Primer smooths the skin and creates an even base for makeup; applying strobe cream afterwards provides both hydration and a glow. This makes the makeup look fresher and more radiant.

The second method is to mix it with your foundation. If you feel your foundation looks a bit flat or matte, you can mix a small amount of strobe cream into it. Doing this creates a uniform glow across the entire face, making the skin look healthier and more luminous without any patchiness.

A third method is to use strobe cream along with your blush. Simply mix a small amount of strobe cream into your blush, apply it to your cheeks, and blend well. This creates a soft, natural glow that makes it appear as though the radiance is coming from within the skin. This look feels far more natural than using a heavy highlighter.

The fourth method is to use it as a highlighter. You can apply strobe cream directly to the high points of your face where light naturally hits such as the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose, the Cupid’s bow (the area above the upper lip), and the inner corners of the eyes and then blend it out with your fingers or a brush. This beautifully accentuates the highlighted areas.

The fifth method is ideal for those who do not wish to wear a full face of makeup but still want their skin to look fresh and radiant. In this case, you can mix a little strobe cream into your moisturizer before applying it. This provides the skin with both hydration and a healthy glow. It is an easy and practical option for daily use, whether you are heading to college, the office, or simply stepping out.

Which Skin Types Should Use Strobe Cream?

Now, the most important question: Is strobe cream suitable for all skin types? The answer is no. Therefore, it is essential to understand your skin type before using strobe cream.

If you have dry skin, strobe cream can be highly beneficial for you. This is because it not only adds a glow but also hydrates the skin. Consequently, those with dry skin can use it without overthinking or worrying too much about the quantity applied.

Strobe cream is generally a good option for normal skin as well. You can use it in various ways, and there are no strict rules regarding its application.

You can also use strobe cream if you have combination skin, though you may need to strike a balance. If you are using it alongside a moisturizer, it is best to use a smaller amount or mix it with your foundation or other makeup products to avoid making your face look overly shiny.

Strobe cream is generally considered safe even for sensitive skin, as most products are dermatologically tested. However, since everyone’s skin is different, it is advisable to perform a patch test before using it for the first time.

That said, applying strobe cream all over the face might not be ideal if you have oily skin. Oily skin already produces excess natural oil; applying strobe cream over the entire face can quickly make the skin look overly oily and feel sticky.

However, this doesn’t mean that those with oily skin cannot use it at all. If you love the glow that strobe cream provides, you can try a simple technique. After completing your makeup, take just one or two drops of the strobe cream and gently dab them onto the high points of your face, such as the cheekbones and the bridge of the nose. There is no need to spread or blend it excessively. This way, you achieve a controlled glow without making your skin feel too sticky.

  • Keratin Hair Treatment

If you are troubled by dry, lifeless, and tangled hair and are considering spending thousands at a salon for a keratin treatment to achieve soft, shiny, and manageable hair then hold on a moment. The remedy I’m sharing today isn’t found in salons or expensive hair products; in fact, it’s likely right there in your kitchen.

I’m talking about okra yes, the very same vegetable we eat. Okra contains a natural gel that helps make hair soft and silky. That’s why okra hair masks have become so popular on social media in recent years; some people even call it a “natural keratin treatment.”

But can okra really deliver results comparable to a keratin treatment? Does it truly make hair soft and shiny? How do you make it at home, and what is the right way to apply it? And most importantly, what are its actual benefits? In today’s article I’ll answer all these questions and show you step-by-step how to prepare an okra hair mask. So, make sure to read the article until the end.

Why Does Okra Work for Hair?

First, let’s understand how okra actually works for hair.

Okra contains certain components that help make hair soft and manageable. When a gel made from okra is applied to the hair, it forms a thin coating on the hair’s surface. This makes the hair feel soft, reduces frizz, and adds a natural shine. That is why many people use it as a natural remedy to soften their hair.

Additionally, okra contains Vitamin A, which is beneficial for the overall health of the scalp and hair; this means okra not only helps make hair look soft on the outside but also contributes to nourishing it. Due to these qualities, okra hair masks have become quite popular for achieving soft, shiny, and healthy-looking hair.

    Ingredients You’ll Need

Now, let’s talk about the ingredients needed to prepare this remedy.

You will need five okra pods and a tablespoon of rice flour. You will also require about a quarter cup of water to mix the rice flour and a glass of water to boil the okra.

Additionally, you will need to add some oil. If you have oily hair, one tablespoon of oil will suffice; however, if your hair is dry or frizzy, you can use one to two tablespoons.

There is no need to use a specific type of oil; simply choose the one that works best for your hair whether it is coconut, almond, olive, or jojoba oil. You can even use a blend of two oils if you prefer.

How to Make the Okra Hair Mask?

Let us now understand how to prepare this paste step-by-step.

First, thoroughly wash five okra pods and cut them into small pieces. Next, boil them in a glass of water for about 10 minutes. You will gradually notice the water beginning to thicken. Once this happens, turn off the heat and let the mixture cool down.

When the okra has cooled, blend it in a blender. Then, strain the mixture thoroughly using a clean cloth and collect the resulting smooth liquid in a bowl.

Now, take a separate vessel, add one tablespoon of rice flour and a quarter cup of water, and mix well until the batter is completely smooth and free of lumps.

Next, transfer the okra mixture to a pan and heat it over a low flame; as it begins to warm up, add the rice flour mixture and stir continuously. Soon, everything will blend together well, resulting in a smooth and creamy mixture.

Strain the mixture through a cloth while it is still hot; straining it while warm is easier and yields a very smooth paste.

Finally, add oil according to your hair’s needs and mix everything thoroughly. Your okra hair mask is now ready to use.

    How to Apply It Correctly?

Now, let’s see how to apply it.

First, divide your hair into small sections; this ensures the paste is applied thoroughly. Apply the paste from the roots to the tips of your hair. You can also apply it to your scalp, as all the ingredients used are natural.

Once the paste is fully applied, cover your hair with a cloth. This prevents the mask from drying out and allows it to work more effectively. Leave it on for about one and a half to two hours.

Afterward, rinse your hair with water only. Try to avoid using shampoo during this initial wash so that the benefits of the mask remain in your hair. Let your hair air-dry; do not use a hair dryer or any form of heat.

After just a single application, many people find their hair becoming softer, smoother, and easier to manage. Frizz is noticeably reduced, and the hair gains a natural shine.

How Often Should You Use It?

Now, the question arises: how often should this remedy be used?

For best results, you can use it once or twice a week. Keep in mind that the smoothing effect okra provides is not permanent; unlike chemical keratin treatments at salons, it does not last for months. Therefore, if you want to keep your hair smooth, soft, and manageable, regular use is essential.

In short, consistency is key with this remedy. While using it once or twice might yield good results temporarily, making it a regular part of your hair care routine will help you better maintain your hair’s softness and manageability.

    Important Things to Know

This okra hair mask is highly beneficial for those with dry, lifeless, or tangled hair. It leaves the hair soft and silky, making it easier to manage.

However, if you are experiencing hair loss, the root cause often lies within the body rather than in the hair itself. Factors such as Vitamin D3 deficiency, low iron or ferritin levels, hormonal imbalances, stress, or certain medical conditions can trigger hair loss.

Therefore, it would be incorrect to assume that simply applying a mask or oil to the scalp will resolve the underlying cause of hair loss. If you are experiencing persistent or excessive hair loss, it is essential to consult a doctor to identify the actual cause.

  • DIY Onion Hair Oil

If you are experiencing excessive hair loss such as clumps of hair coming out while combing, a receding hairline, or reduced hair density you have likely tried various oils, products, and home remedies to stop it. People often trust a product simply because of what is written on the label; however, the effectiveness of a hair oil depends not just on the names of the ingredients listed, but on the specific components used and the manufacturing process itself.

So, today I am going to share a recipe for homemade hair oil with you. The ingredients used in it nourish the scalp and improve hair health. Although onion is the key ingredient, we won’t rely on it alone; we will add other ingredients to make the oil even more effective. The best part is that it takes just 20 minutes to prepare. So, without further ado, let’s learn the step-by-step process of making onion hair oil at home covering the proper preparation method, how to apply it, and how long it takes to see results with regular use.

    Ingredients Required

You will need a few ingredients for this.

First, take two onions. Onions contain sulfur, which strengthens hair roots and promotes hair growth. They also possess antiseptic properties that help keep the scalp clean and healthy.

Next, we need curry leaves. Curry leaves contain beta-carotene and amino acids, which help strengthen the hair and prevent hair loss.

The next item is six cloves of garlic. Garlic helps reduce bacteria and germs on the scalp. It also contains Vitamin C, which aids in healthy hair growth.

Now, take two tablespoons of fenugreek seeds and two tablespoons of nigella seeds (kalonji). Both are considered excellent for hair health; they nourish the scalp and keep the hair healthy.

Finally, to prepare this mixture, we need 200 ml of coconut oil. It serves as the base oil for this recipe; it moisturizes the hair and scalp while also helping to deliver the nutrients from the other ingredients to the hair.

Make a Smooth Hair Oil Paste

Now, place all these ingredients into a mixer and grind them together. Ensure the resulting paste is very fine and smooth; the better the paste, the more easily the properties of these ingredients will infuse into the oil. Therefore, do not rush this step grind the paste thoroughly so that no large chunks remain.

Cook the Oil the Right Way

Now, transfer the prepared paste into an iron vessel. If you do not have an iron vessel, you can use any heavy-bottomed pan. The advantage of a heavy-bottomed vessel is that heat spreads slowly and evenly, reducing the risk of burning the ingredients.

Next, add 200 ml of mustard oil. If you have castor oil, you can also add 100 ml of it; however, this is entirely up to you. The recipe will turn out excellent even without it.

Now, keep the stove flame low and let the mixture cook for about 15 to 20 minutes. Stir it occasionally during this time to prevent the paste from sticking to the bottom of the vessel or burning. Gradually, the beneficial properties of the ingredients will infuse into the oil, and this process will yield our hair oil.

    Strain and Store

Once the oil has cooled completely, strain it thoroughly using a clean cloth or a sieve. Ensure that all the paste and small particles are removed so that the oil remains smooth and easy to use.

Finally, pour the prepared oil into a clean, dry bottle and your homemade onion hair oil is ready. You can store it at room temperature; provided the bottle remains clean and dry, the oil generally stays in good condition for 3 to 4 weeks.

How to use it for best results

Now, let’s see how to apply it.

To apply it, first divide your hair into different parts so that the oil can reach the scalp directly. After this, apply the oil on your scalp and massage gently for a few minutes. By massaging, the oil spreads well over the entire scalp and it becomes easier to apply.

After applying the oil, leave it on the scalp for at least 3 to 4 hours. Then, you can wash your hair with your regular shampoo.

For better results, follow this routine twice a week. With consistent use, usually within 4 to 6 weeks, you will notice a difference in hair fall and the overall condition of your hair.
